What a Difference a Day Makes - Part 2

Yesterday I used the worst of all ploys to keep my readers engaged...The Cliffhanger!!!!

There was absolute truth in the reason for the cliffhanger - I was too tired, but I've had another day of "rest", so no more excuses.

Another reason for leaving you in the lurch was that I didn't have the whole story yet...

Now I do, so here goes:

Once again TLOML spent the night on the sofa last night...the pain was just too bad and he didn't want to keep me awake because I've been so tired and had a stinging pain in my back. After a late start to the day, he headed off to have his scan and ultrasound done, while I stayed at home and "pottered".

Now let me tell you something about the difference between TLOML and I. The Comfy Curved member of our marriage has been pretty tired for a little while and developed a painful rash on her back overnight, so has taken two days off work. Meanwhile, after suffering for months, the Straight Edged member of the marriage finally headed off to have a scan and ultrasound on his back...then he went off to his job. The man is a machine!

After he came back from finishing off his job, TLOML went off to see our local doctor and I dragged myself off the couch to go downstairs to the studio to do some painting.

Sometime later, TLOML came home and I heard a thundering, banging sound on the floor above the studio, which usually means "Come upstairs, my love, so I can bless your weary bones with a caffeinated beverage." So I calmly covered up my paints and washed my brushes. Then MEH (My Eldest Heir), AKA Brian, appeared in the studio doorway to say: "Dad needs you...now".

I can tell you, this is not a sentence you want to hear! TLOML is not one to demand my presence (unless you consider loud banging on the floor "demanding"). Neither is he one to send MEH to come and get me.

To say that I panicked is probably an overstatement, but I was most definitely worried, and for good reason. These delightful images depict something a bit more concerning than bursitis. TLOML has 5 bulging discs in his lumbar region and will need surgery. This is a pretty scary scenario and it explains A LOT. It also leaves us in a little dilemma since TLOML runs a small handyman business, which might struggle to make a profit if his back is out of action!

Oh...and by the way...that painful rash on my back, and all the tiredness, that's just a nasty dose of shingles. This was another reason why we needed to cancel the dinner party - I didn't want to pass on the chickenpox virus to the the smaller members of the faculty. Oh, and since Laura-Jane missed out on getting chickenpox when she was a baby, she and Sam, wisely chose to avoid contact too, so no visits from the family.

I should be sad, but this morning my brain has been filled with all sorts of ideas that could be helpful, and the best bonus of all...this morning, when checked I Facebook, I had one of those Facebook Memories in my InBox. It was one of my Christian memes from two years ago and is the perfect verse to read right now.

What a difference a day makes!
