What matters most

I had two momentous moments this past week. I wonder which one you think was the most important.
The first one took a lot of work! You see, I'm getting a bit "long in the tooth" (aka "old and decrepit"), so to prepare for the time when my gorgeous students are running too fast for me to chase (who am I kidding, I stopped chasing teenagers when I WAS a teenager), I decided to turn my art skills into an art business. I have my own website, have created a range of artworks, put together some special offers, joined a bunch of Facebook groups (my favourite "must joins" are Artist Strong and Hope Writers), created pins and begged for (and paid for) likes on my Facebook page and my Instagram page.
Out of all this work (drum-roll please), I have finally hit 200 likes on my Facebook page

!!!! EEEEEK!!! How exciting! The hard work and input had finally paid off and I had started to WIN!
Praise Our Lord for His patience with me!
Mostly because, THAT WAS NOT WHAT MATTERED MOST!!!
You see, while I was staying up late, creating Facebook content, reading business advice, making pins on Canva, watching the stats on my ads and wondering how long I could keep on doing this while working full-time, God was quietly and miraculously creating something way more amazing that any media content any of us could imagine. He was knitting together a new life. On the 22nd February, my beautiful daughter (My Only Lassie) and her husband were blessed with their first son and my first grandchild.

2000000000000 trillion likes on Facebook (is that even possible?) could not come near to replacing the overriding joy I feel every time I look at this little bundle of perfection and watch how my daughter and son-in-law lovingly care for him.
In our fast paced, "insta"-gratification world, we sometimes focus more on what matters least, forgetting that God is in control and He cares abundantly for us, even when we are suffering hardships, disappointments and frustrations.
Welcome into the world beautiful boy, may you always be a reminder of how blessed we are to be His children, fearfully and wonderfully made.
